India Iceland SITE Network

Introduction

The India–Iceland SITE Network draws on Iceland’s global leadership in geothermal energy, renewable power systems, carbon removal, sustainable fisheries, and climate-resilient infrastructure, alongside India’s unparalleled implementation capacity, digital public infrastructure, and scale-up ecosystem. Iceland’s strengths in geothermal heating and cooling, green power integration, carbon mineralisation, and circular resource management align closely with India’s priorities across clean energy, industrial decarbonisation, water management, and climate adaptation. India, in turn, offers a large and diverse testbed for deploying and scaling Icelandic innovations, supported by strong policy momentum and demand-led programmes. The SITE corridor enables structured collaboration on FOAK (First-of-a-Kind) deployments in India, with pathways for replication and reverse learning into Iceland and other advanced markets—creating shared value, accelerating commercialisation, and strengthening global leadership on climate-positive development..
